JICREG Agrees New Set of Audit Rules
The JICREG board have agreed a new set of minimum audit rules and guidelines for calculating and reporting newspaper net circulation data, to apply from the beginning of the reporting period commencing January 2012.
Independently audited net circulation figures are the foundation on which JICREG readership and audience figures are based. Their accuracy is fundamental to the JICREG process and its value to media buyers and owners
Newspapers in JICREG membership must supply independently audited net circulation figures updated at least annually (N.B. six-monthly audit reports are the norm and a requirement for daily publications).
ABC is widely recognised as a joint industry currency for audited net circulation figures. However, not all JICREG publications are in ABC membership. These rules and guidelines therefore, set out the minimum standards required by JICREG for the submission of all audited net circulation figures.
Audited net circulation figures may be certified by the independent industry body ABC or by an independent audit carried out in compliance with the minimum JICREG audit rules and guidelines as defined in this document.
