COI Launches Fire Safety Campaign in Local Media

The COI has launched a Featurelink campaign in more than 130 local media titles highlighting the importance of having a working smoke alarm in the home.

Launching next month, the Fire Kills campaign will see ads created by RKCR/Y&R run in more than 130 media titles accompanied by regionally tailored editorial.

The campaign encourages fire safe behaviour with the aim of preventing accidental domestic fires and resulting injury or loss of life.

It also highlights the prevalence of household fires as well as illustrating behaviour that can lead to fires, such as leaving candles unattended.

The campaign also aims to encourage a new social norm in which smoke alarm testing becomes synonymous with the clock change dates twice a year.

Planning was handled by the COI for the Fire and Rescue Services and Department for Communities and Local Government.

As well as regional press, the campaign will also feature in national press, radio, TV listings and supplements.

Featurelink allows national clients to run targeted advertising and PR campaigns in local press. The editorial is available on the Featurelink website for all local newspapers to download and use.

The NS is the voice of Britain’s local media, the UK’s most popular print medium. It represents 1,100 newspapers, 1,600 websites and other print, digital and broadcast channels.
