NS Hosts Lunch for Eric Pickles

Eric Pickles, Communities Secretary, attended a lunch for regional press publishers hosted by the NS on Monday. Mr Pickles spoke to guests about a range of issues such as the importance of local newspaper journalism, local government openness, council newspapers, the Publicity Code and statutory notices.
The previous week, Mr Pickles attended a Newspaper Conference quarterly lunch at which he warned that councils which flouted the Publicity Code could face judicial review.
