Worcester News Latest Title to Smash 100 Apprenticeships in 100 Days Target
The Worcester News is the latest local media title to run a successful 100 apprentice positions in 100 days.
The paper smashed the initial target and revised it to aim at getting 100 companies to take on apprentices in 100 days.
The Newsquest title met that target this week securing a total of 206 apprenticeships from 100 Worcestershire companies.
Run with the National Apprenticeship Service, the campaign was also supported by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, Worcestershire County Council and Skills for Security,
It produced apprenticeships across a wide spectrum of industry and commerce with positions offered in construction, hospitality, recruitment, childcare.
“This has been a fantastic campaign,” said Karen Wood-ward, Midland divisional apprenticeship director of the National Apprenticeship Service.
“It underlines the true motive behind the challenge – to begin a shift in attitudes towards apprenticeships and to help individuals and businesses understand the benefits they can bring.”
Regional papers including the Bristol Evening Post, Southwark News and The Journal in Newcastle have run similar campaigns to boost employment prospects for youngsters in their area.
