Muirhoward Pair Crowned Best Young Creatives in Europe

Muirhoward’s Julia Earthrowl and Poulami Chakraborty have won European creative contest Best YET.

Ed Redgrave and David Wigglesworth, of St Luke’s, came second making it a clean sweep for the British teams in the competition’s tenth year.

The teams earned a place at Best YET, held this year in Zadar in Croatia, after coming first and second in the NS’ the wanted ads Young Team of the Year in April.

At two-day Best YET, 22 teams from 11 European countries were challenged to come up with a newspaper campaign for tie-making company Croata and their efforts were judged by a panel of senior creatives from each participating country.

The Muirhoward pair’s winning campaign played on the exclusivity of Croata’s premium limited edition range by printing handmade ads in just four newspapers, with the rest of the titles carrying a blank page teasing the audience about why just four ads had been printed.

British judge Stef Jones, co-founder, Big Al’s, said: “The work was of an excellent standard this year and it was encouraging to see so many different approaches from young creatives across Europe.

“Although it was a tough decision, the winning work stood out to all the judges as being a strong campaign which harnessed the power of the print and met a challenging brief head on.”

Julia and Poulami’s prize is flights, accommodation and a four-day pass to the Cannes Lion Advertising festival in June. Julia has pulled off a double after winning Best YET last year with a different teammate, Gavin Johnson.

Poulami said: “The competition is a rare chance to meet creatives and jury from so many different places and we are thrilled to have won the competition. To have the opportunity to go to Cannes is fantastic.”

Best YET was held over 12-13 May.

The NS is the voice of Britain’s local media, the UK’s most popular print medium. It represents 1,100 newspapers, 1,600 websites and other print, digital and broadcast channels.
