Tindle Newspapers to Launch Two Titles
Tindle Newspapers is to launch two newspaper titles in the south of England, the publisher has announced.
Chairman Sir Ray Tindle has also outlined plans to buy or launch more titles in the West Country and Wales, saying local newspapers were the “lifeblood of their communities.”
The publisher also said it was to buy a title in the south of England.
Sir Ray said: “We have been hit by the economic downturn like any other group but most of our local community papers around the country are performing better than the average and providing the profits to keep the others going.
“Plans are well advanced for us to buy or launch more of these titles, especially in the West country and Wales, but also in places where communities have lost or never had their own papers. These newspapers are the lifeblood of their communities and readers are calling out for them.”
The Tindle group has already launched two local community newspapers this year - in Chingford, London, and Pembroke Dock in Wales.
Sir Ray Tindle has also announced that the company, which has more than 200 weekly, fortnightly and monthly newspapers in its stable, would be paying a bonus to all staff.
