Windsor And Maidenhead Council Website to Compete with Local Media for Ad Revenues

Windsor And Maidenhead Council is to appoint an independent advertising agency to sell advertising space on its website.

The move will see taxpayers’ money used to compete with independent local media for advertising revenues.

A member of the Royal Borough's cabinet will be tasked with vetting and approving each advert to ensure it adheres to strict standards and an independent advertising agency will work on a commission basis.

The plans were approved at a meeting in March

Neighbouring Slough council also continues to publish a newspaper six times a year despite new guidelines being published to crack down on council publications.
