The latest release of the Top 20 shows that Total Weekly
Circulation for all local and regional papers is approximately 50.6
million.
The Metro titles are included under the publisher responsible
for distribution and local advertising sales.
The main changes since January 2010 is the acquisition of the
Manchester Evening News by Trinity Mirror, and the acquisition of
KOS Media by Archant. Evening Standard Ltd has moved from
11th to 6th place as a result of the increased circulation when it
went free, and Topper Newspapers has moved into the top 20.
The Top 20 regional press publishers now account for 87% of
all regional press titles and 97% of total weekly
circulation.
As of 1 July 2010 there are now 87 regional press
publishers producing a total of 1,196 titles. This includes
39 publishers producing just one title.
