Innovation, brand extension and portfolio publishing are the name of the game for Britain’s regional press. While successfully building the readership of their core titles, regional publishers are also developing a range of targeted print, broadcast and digital channels to reach increasingly diverse audiences in their regional markets.

As well as 1,200 regional and local, daily and weekly titles, the regional press now boasts over 600 niche/ultra local titles, over 1500 websites43 radio stations and two television stations. In their individual markets, regional press brands reach more people than any other medium.

The NS Portfolio Audience Project has been launched to extend the JICREG regional press readership database to encompass regional press internet audiences and provide agencies and advertisers with a geographical system for analysing the combined net reach of a newspaper and its website within the newspaper’s circulation area down to postcode sector level.

The majority of regional newspaper circulation and distribution (ABC/VFD) figures are released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations twice a year. Others are independently audited.

The NS produces an alphabetical list of all Newspaper titles by type, split by daily (paid and free), Sunday (paid and free), and weekly (paid and free), updated with their latest circulation and distribution figures.
