This year’s Local Newspaper Week took place between 10 and 16 May. The theme was ‘Your Voice’, with a focus on the importance of independent local journalism, relevant to readers’ lives and trusted by local communities to hold public bodies to account.
Local Newspaper Week takes place every year in May. By taking part in the Week, which celebrated its thirteenth year in 2010, local newspapers raise awareness of the strengths of the medium among readers, advertisers and the wider media industry.
Graphics, articles by contributors, and the findings of two research projects were available for editors to download and use in their titles during the Week.
High Profile Support
The NS enlisted the support of several high profile contributers for 2010′s event, including Mervyn King, Sir Harold Evans and Carol Vorderman.
