Royal Rota

There are several hundred royal engagements undertaken by the
Royal Family in England and Wales each year (see
www.royal.gov.uk the official
website of the British Monarchy for further details).
Due to space restrictions and security, it is rarely possible
to allow all media who wish to cover a royal engagement equal
access to the event. A rota, or pool system, was therefore
introduced. Representatives from each relevant media sector are
offered the opportunity to cover an event, on the understanding
that they will share all material obtained, with all other members
of their sector.
The Newspaper Society only allocates
rota passes. For fixed-point passes, or any
other method of accessing events, please contact the relevant
Palace, regional GNN branch or host organisation.
Please note that only one application form is
needed if applying for several rotas within a royal visit. Please
do not send several application forms for
individual rotas, all separate rotas are part of the one visit and
should be all included on a single application form.
