Dedicated staff worked throughout the night to pull the first five pages of the paper and fill them with coverage of the triumph instead. Acting editor Rob Irvine said: "We sent two staff sports writers, a news reporter and photographer to Istanbul. This gave us a unique local perspective on the match and ensured that our readers enjoyed the high quality journalism they expect whenever we report on Liverpool FC or Everton. "Our readers respect and enjoy our coverage - it was great to watch breakfast television the morning after the game and see fans returning to Liverpool John Lennon Airport rushing to get their copies of the Daily Post."
The
eight-page supplement on the 7pm victory parade will also involve an early
print run to bring readers coverage of their winning team.
